Released shortly after Darkthrone’s seminal A Blaze In the Northern Sky LP, Immortal’s first full-length is not only a landmark in the burgeoning underground of early 90s Norway, but an all-time masterpiece of Norwegian black metal. Like their comrades at the time, Immortal ditched their death metal leanings and what resulted was one of the darkest pieces of music they have ever produced.
