LUCTUS - Jaučiant Pabaigą Arti LP

This belligerent black metal album was a cornerstone and defining release in LUCTUS’ discography, crystallizing and firmly establishing the band’s sound and vision of that era. In the summer of 2008, Kommander L. entered Latvia’s Phoenix Studio for the first time and, with the help of drummer Kingas, forged eight tracks. Their recording, mixing, and mastering were handled by the legendary Gints Lundbergs, who would later work on two more LUCTUS releases. The album’s final track was recorded in Rome in collaboration with several well-known Italian industrial / power electronic artists. In the winter of 2009, the album was released by Ledo Takas Records in digipack CD format.

“Jaučiant Pabaigą Arti” (Feeling the End Close) drew a strict red line across the Lithuanian metal landscape of its time – LUCTUS’ sound and identity became a manifesto of fierce and uncompromising Lithuanian black metal. It is a conceptual album in which Kommander L., speaking in the first person, reflects on what the world would look like with only a few minutes left before its end: what would be worth preserving and what would be left behind, as it is precisely in the moment before death that what truly matters is revealed. This is not an album about the apocalypse itself, but about what would remain in its presence – some face death by acknowledging their weakness, others by giving meaning to their values, and Death, in the end, levels all things.

Seventeen years later, LUCTUS’ current label Inferna Profundus Records has joined forces with Ledo Takas Records to release “Jaučiant Pabaigą Arti” on vinyl for the first time – the prophet of inevitable war returns!
